Flipkart and Snapdeal lifts Cash on Delivery Restrictions after Amazon

Demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes brought a revolutionary change in our country and no one was spared from few days of money crunch. With this all the online stores like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal etc put on hold the cash on delivery mode of payment due to currency crunch. Amazon was the first to lift the restriction on cash on delivery payment mode and soon it is now resumed also by Flipkart and snapdeal. With the demonetisation spree the e-commerce sites allowed other method of payment including wallet on delivery, card payment and offered discounts exclusive for card payments. Now the three online giants have resumed COD service again.

Snapdeal resuming Cash on Delivery

The online giant immediately after demonetisation flashed a warning that no Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes will be accepted during cash on delivery mode. They limited the purchase with COD and enabled one to use the cash on delivery mode of payment only when the purchase was made beyond Rs 2000 but for lower value only digital payment was accepted. As of now the cash limit is removed. One of the spokesperson of the company said in an e-mail that – “We worked closely with our users throughout the last week to ensure there was no lapse in their experience, and they have responded by swiftly adopting alternative payment modes, especially the Wallet on Delivery option. We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and do as required to ensure it is business as usual on our platform.”

Flipkart on resuming Cash on Delivery

The major online player limited the cash on delivery purchase with facilitating card on delivery service in all the area. The company has now resumed it cash on delivery mode of payment and is accepting cash to a limit. As stated by the company’s spokesperson – “Flipkart has resumed cash on delivery fully up to any amount. Flipkart took the initiative to provide every possible facility for a smooth and seamless order processing. We significantly ramped up our card on delivery facility and covered majority of pin-codes, also reaching remote towns.” Flipkart also introduced wallet cashback and educated customers of other mode of payment.

Conclusion

Out of the three major online giant Amazon was the one to completely block cash on delivery option but was the first to resume the service back. In case of Flipkart and Snapdeal they accepted Cash if product purchased is beyond a limit but now resumed the cash of delivery service no matter what the amount of purchase is.
