Earlier this year Xiaomi Inc. launched its flagship smartphone – Xiaomi Mi 5. The phone was so far only available in the white variant but the company has now announced the black color variant for the Indian market. Let’s take a look at the specifications on phone that had everybody talking.
Specifications – Xiaomi Mi 5
The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with a 5.15 inch IPS display that has a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. That translates to a pixel density of 428 ppi. Xiaomi has previously boasted of some extremely impressive displays on its flagship products but this one surpasses all expectations. The Mi 5 is powered by the most advanced mobile processor there is right now – a 1.8 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. This alongside an Adreno 530 make the Mi 5 a bit of a beast mode smartphone, especially if you add the 4 GB RAM to the mix.
When it comes to internal storage the Mi 5 is available in three variants – 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. That is the maximum storage options Xiaomi has made available for any of its flagship products. This allows the product to appeal to those who just need enough storage capacity, those who need a good chunk of storage, and indeed it is definitely a big plus for those who can never have enough storage space and always seem to need more. Let’s face it, even if you are a power user 128 GB would more than suffice your needs.

Xiaomi has also made a name for itself in terms of offering some of the best smartphone cameras with its previous flagships so no prizes for guessing that the camera on the Xiaomi Mi 5 is an excellent assembly of camera equipment. The primary camera on the Mi 5 is a 16 megapixel unit with dual-LED flash support. The secondary camera on the other hand is a 4 megapixel unit. The Mi 5 cameras are capable of achieving video recording quality of 2160 pixels at 30 frames per second.
The dual-SIM Mi 5 has all the connectivity specs you would expect from a Xiaomi flagship, including 4G. The phone weighs a mere 139 grams, which is a real lightweight figure for a phone with its form factor and dimensions – 144.5 x 69.20 x 7.25 mm.

The battery capacity on the Mi 5 is 3000 mAh. This is yet another flagship phone from a quality smartphone brand that fails to impress with battery specifications. It is as if all of these smartphone brands have decided that no matter how powerful the rest of the product stacks up to be, the battery capacity will remain above average. Considering the advancements we have observed in mobile battery specs over the last year or so the likes of Xiaomi, HTC, and Huawei really need to step up their Lithium-ion game.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 battery does support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 so at least it charges super quick. The features include fingerprint, infrared, and Hall sensors among others. The Mi 5 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and is perhaps one of the best phones to truly tap into the capabilities of the latest Android OS.
