The new Vivo Xplay5 Elite is the world’s first smartphone to be powered by a 6GB RAM. Let’s take a quick look at the specifications on the Vivo Xplay5 Elite.

Specifications – Vivo Xplay5 Elite

The Vivo Xplay5 Elite comes with a 5.43 inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 541 ppi. The phone boasts of the 2.15 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor (2.15 GHz Dual Core Kryo & 1.6 GHz Dual Core Kryo) and the Adreno 530 GPU to boot. But surely the 6 GB RAM should give the Xplay5 Elite a performance boost unlike smartphone before it.

The internal storage on the Xplay5 Elite is a gigantic 128 GB. The phone comes with a 16 megapixel primary camera with dual LED flash and auto focus. The phone also sports an 8 megapixel secondary camera for all your selfie-needs. The dual SIM phone supports all standard connectivity options including 4G. The battery capacity of the Vivo Xplay5 Elite is also an impressive 3600 mAh. In the Xplay5 Elite Vivo has certainly delivered a high-end smartphone with better than standard specifications.

Last but not the least the Xplay5 Elite is powered by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. However, the phone will run on the company’s much admired Funtouch OS 2.6. Anybody who has ever used a Vivo phone would vouch for the truly different user interface that the Funtouch OS brings to the table.

Vivo Xplay5 Elite is pushing the hardware envelope on a mobile device with a 6 GB RAM

Vivo is known to dish out some truly remarkable products. The Vivo X5 Max was dubbed the world’s thinnest smartphone when it launched and it certainly lived up to its billing. The Vivo Xshot was arguably the best camera phone in the market at the time of its launch. Now in the Xplay5 Elite the company is certainly pushing the hardware innovation envelope by launching what is effectively the world’s first smartphone with 6 GB RAM.

Any product that is tagged “world’s first” is one to watch out for and the Xplay5 Elite is no different in that sense. But we must remember that it is extremely hard to put a 6 GB RAM on a smartphone. If it was easy, with such incredible hardware innovation on display every year, a few smartphone brands would have already done that.

The hardware innovation that goes in a laptop or a desktop is quite different from similar innovation on a mobile device, if that makes sense. On a mobile device there is always the size constraint and whether the average tech Joe believes it or not, it is the most important constraint in improving hardware efficiency and overall performance. On a mobile device more powerful features need to be accommodated in lesser space while still trying to optimize what the lesser space can accomplish.

The Vivo Xplay5 Elite is certainly one device which will capture the imagination of Vivo loyalists and critics alike. Who wouldn’t like a smartphone with a 6 GB RAM?
