Huawei, the Chinese consumer electronics giant, recently launched the Huawei Honor Holly 3 alongside the Honor 8 and the Honor 8 Smart. The Honor Holly 3 is the first Huawei smartphone model that falls under the ‘Made in India’ bracket. Now, let us have a look at the specifications of Huawei’s latest budget offering.

The smartphone has a 13-megapixel primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture and 28mm wide-angle lens. It has an 8-megapixel secondary camera, which has features like f/2.0 aperture, 4P lenses, 1.12um pixel size. It packs a non-removable 3,100 mAh battery, which is decent for its price tag.

Display, Connectivity, and Internet Features

The Huawei Honor Holly 3 has a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. According to reports, the viewing angles and color reproduction of the display is average at best.

The smartphone is a dual-SIM (GSM + LTE) 4G device. Other connectivity and Internet features of this phone include GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth v4.0, and a 3.5-mm audio jack.

Processor and Memory

The Huawei Honor Holly 3 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Octa Core Kirin 620 processor. It runs the Android v6.0 Marshmallow operating system with the EMUI 4.1 user interface out-of-the-box. The device has 2 GB of RAM and an internal memory of 16 GB, which is expandable up to 128 GB through a microSD card.

The Huawei Honor Holly 3 will compete with the incredibly successful Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. On paper, the latter is the superior device when it comes to certain critical features. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a Hexa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor, which is clocked much higher at 1.8 GHz. The display on this smartphone offers a higher resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (403 ppi). Also, like most Xiaomi offerings, the Redmi Note 3 has an incredible battery with a capacity of 4,050 mAh.

When it comes to global sales figures and market share, though, Huawei is on a roll, to say the least. As of Q2, 2016, the company holds the third highest market share at 8.9% (source: Gartner). During the same period, its unit sales saw a 16% increase with respect to the sales in Q2, 2015. Huawei is not very far behind Apple, which is currently at the second position with a share of 12.9%.

Samsung sits pretty at the first position with a high share of 22.3%. The South Korean giant may be recovering rather quickly from the Note 7 crisis, but its reputation and revenues have certainly taken a massive hit. That said, Huawei and other rapidly growing Chinese players (Oppo, Xiaomi, etc.) will surely look to capitalize on this situation.

Huawei is making all the right moves with respect to product launches as well. The Huawei Mate 9 and Mate S2 models are slated for a December release according to our sources. The two widely awaited smartphone models will likely have a significant effect on the dynamics of the high-end smartphone market. It is rumored that the two smartphones will flaunt high-resolution dual-camera units with the incorporation of Leica optics. Also, they will probably be powered by Octa Core Kirin 960 processors.

The Huawei Honor Holly 3 is available in the colors – black, white, and gold – and priced at about Rs. 10,000. The smartphone comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty and a six-month warranty for in-the-box accessories.
