Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Gionee, and OnePlus have tasted great success in India and other Chinese consumer electronics brands see their success as a sign of the times. They know that outside China, India is a market that is very smartphone friendly.

This brings us to the latest entrant from China making its India debut in January, 2016. This time it’s a Chinese Internet Company that has decided to test the water in India. What does LeTV bring to the table that others don’t?

As we noted above, LeTV is still pretty new to the smartphone space but in this short amount of time they have managed to carve out a niche, albeit a rather small one, for themselves in the Chinese smartphone market. They are hoping to do the same here in India.

Smartphones from LeTV are known for sporting a bezel-less design and the USP of these phones has been their premium look and feel. The company has also developed a patented LeTouch technology that uses fingerprint sensors and enables flash recognition. The impressive part about their patented technology is that flash recognition takes just 0.15 seconds and is 99.3 percent accurate when it comes to identification. That is well and truly impressive.

Interestingly, LeTV calls its flagships – the superphones – and claims the LeTV smartphones are flagship killers. Now it would not be the first smartphone brand to make such a claim but unlike other brands LeTV is still a fairly unknown quantity. This could work in LeTV’s favor if they get their marketing right.

Consumers in India often prefer good looking phones over powerful phones, which is something LeTV has going for it. However, if the hardware and the customized system software on the phone complement its beautiful design, LeTV could indeed succeed in positioning itself as the brand to watch out for.
