Lenovo is all set to launch it acclaimed next generation smartphone Lenovo Z2 on Thursday(22nd September) and have been sending invites for the launch event. The launch event for unveiling Lenovo Z2 is to be held in New Delhi starting at 11.30 am. The phone will be launched in India as a rebrand model with the name Lenovo Z2 but is already launched in China as Lenovo Zuk Z2.

Rebranding reason by Head of Product Market, Lenovo:

The Lenovo phone has been launched in China Lenovo as Lenovo Zuk Z2 but it is rebranded and launched in India as Lenovo Z2. Anuj Sharma, Product Marketing Head of Smartphones, Lenovo MBG India on asking the reason behind rebranding said “Once we are getting into a particular price band, we want to make sure consumers know the brand. We want to sell the phone. We are not bringing the device as token flagship as India is still a big market for us. However, Zuk branding will be there on the box, with the text ‘Powered by Zuk’ as a hat tip for the Zuk team.”

Specifications:

  • The phone is powered by superior 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 processor and will be powered by popular Android OS.
  • There will be two variants launched in terms of memory with launch of inbuilt memory of 3GB RAM with internal memory of 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM with internal memory of 64GB TOM.
  • The phone is to be backed by a battery capacity of 3500mAh that enables rapid and fast charging with charge of 80% battery in an hour.
  • The phone sports a rear camera of 13-megapixel with PDAF, EIS etc and comes with a front camera of 8-megapixel.

Comparing with Lenovo Zuk Z1:

There are certain changes made in the to-be launched Lenovo Z1 and is created with more specific features suitable for India. It is to support fingerprint scanner to control gesture shortcuts, contain a pedometer and also comes with an inbuilt health app. The Zuk Z2 has a display screen of 5 inch in full HD along with 2.5D curved glass and the new launch is supposed to have same. Z2 Plus like Lenovo Zuk Z2 will not run on Cyanogen OS but is to be pre-installed with Google Now launcher. Lenovo Z2 offers great connectivity like 4G internet connection, Wi-Fi support, bluetooth support and Type C-Port support and the new launch is also to have same connectivity features.

Conclusion:

The phone is to be launched in India on Thursday as rebranded model and comes with exclusive features suitable for Indian customers. The launch price is yet to be speculated and there are no leads yet on exact pricing.
