OnePlus is apparently working towards launching an upgraded version of its flagship smartphone – the OnePlus 3. The new version will be called the OnePlus 3T if reports are to be believed. The T is apparently short for Turbo.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has not made an official announcement to confirm the launch. However, reports from various sources have been consistent with the leaked specifications and other relevant details.
With the holiday season around the corner, the Chinese giant could be planning a Christmas launch for the OnePlus 3T. The smartphone will most likely not be a significant improvement over the OnePlus 3. Nevertheless, let us take a quick look at the rumored features and specifications of the OnePlus 3T.
OnePlus 3T – Specifications
According to reports, the OnePlus 3T will look pretty much the same as the OnePlus 3. Incorporating a metal unibody design, the device will likely have the dimensions – 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35 mm – and weigh 158 grams.
Architecture and Memory
The OnePlus 3T will probably come with an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, which would be a welcome change, as the OnePlus 3 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.
The 3T is expected to pack 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB/128 GB of internal memory.
Display and Battery
The OnePlus 3T is expected to feature a 5.5-inch optic AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels.
As for the battery, the device is expected to be powered by a 3,000 mAh unit.
Camera and Software
It is very likely that the 3T will have the same camera features as the OnePlus 3 – a 16-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and an 8-megapixel secondary shooter. However, the camera unit on the 3T is expected to have the Sony IMX395 sensor, which would be an improvement over the Sony IMX179 sensor incorporated in the OnePlus 3.
The camera unit on the OnePlus 3T will reportedly record 2,160p videos at 30 fps and 720p videos at 120 fps.
With respect to software, the device will probably run an updated version of OxygenOS on top of Android v7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Connectivity and Internet
As per the rumors, the OnePlus 3T will be a dual SIM (LTE + LTE) device with support for 4G and VoLTE.
Other connectivity features will likely include GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, USB Type-C, NFC, and a 3.5-mm audio jack.
Sensors and Miscellaneous
The 3T will probably incorporate the sensors – fingerprint scanner, hall sensor, accelerometor, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and eCompass.
Akin to the OnePlus 3, the 3T is expected to come with the dash charge feature.

Given the specifications discussed above, it is clear that the OnePlus 3T will not exactly be leaps and bounds ahead of the OnePlus 3. Improvements seem to have been made only with respect to the processor, operating system, and camera sensor. Since there is so little to gain, wouldn’t most consumers rather wait for the OnePlus 4? At least I certainly would.
According to a Weibo report, the OnePlus 4 will be launched next year during the summer. The device will be powered by a 3 GHz Snapdragon 830 processor along with an Adreno 620 GPU. The Octa Core processor might support up to 8 GB of RAM. Moreover, the smartphone will likely pack a 4,000 mAh battery.
Getting back to the OnePlus 3T, let us talk about the expected price. Tech enthusiasts and journalists are more than familiar with Evan Blass, the professional phone leaker who has an awesome reputation for almost never being wrong with his information. He recently tweeted that the OnePlus 3T will cost about $80 more than the OnePlus 3.
This means that the 3T will probably be launched at around Rs. 32,000 in India. The iSpyPrice team will keep you updated as and when we receive new information pertinent to the smartphone.
