Alcatel to make its offline presence prominent by March by covering 5000 stores

Alcatel is one of the newest kid in India in terms of smartphones and is fighting hard against established smartphone makers to makes its presence in India visible. To makes its presence prominent in India and in an effort to boost its sales Alcatel India is expected to expand its retail existence by up to 5000 stores starting with five India states. The company has kept the target till up to March and this is expected to definitely increase the market share of Alcatel in India if everything goes as per plan.

Expansion to retail presence

As of now Alcatel India has targeted the expansion via retail stores only in five states of India. During the launch of a new smartphone by Alcatel Praveen Valecha, Regional Director of Alcatel India said – “We are going to expand our retail presence to increase our market share. By March we plan to sell across 1000 stores each in five states — Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.” He also mentioned that currently Alcatel phones are sold only through 700 stores across India but the expansion of sale through 5000 stores is expected to be a driving force for increasing sale.

Alcatel Smartphone launch by Alcatel

Alcatel so far launched 6 smartphones in India but are expected to launch more models by 2017 to build up a prominent market for the product. The latest that was launched by the company was Alcatel Idol 4 that is enabled with 4G connectivity at a price of Rs 16,999. The phone will be sold in India with Virtual Reality Goggles and JBL headphones. As per the company the expansion of offline store for selling the phones is a strategy to achieve more market share apart from market share built by online presence. On the launch Praveen Valecha also mentioned – “Now we will bring more models next year to expedite our strategy to capture 10 percent market share in India by 2018. We have around 2-3 percent share in online space. The offline presence will further help us achieving 3-4 percent additional share.”

Conclusion

Alcatel India launched that latest Idol 4 with dual 4G SIM slot, packed with 3GB RAM/16GB ROM internal memory and flaunts a display screen of 5.2 inch. The company so far have 400 service centres in India and with the expansion of offline presence it is also intending on opening 100 more Alcatel service in next two years.
