This is considered to be the super light weighted tablet and ready to give tough competition to iPad having good features and quality screen. For the tablets, the Android is the most common tool to load the device with. There have been many tablets who claim to be better than iPad but hardly any can prove its claim. But this time Sony has affirmed to make it and is fully determined that its new tablet Xperia Z will give a good competition to iPad. Sony do had tried many times to make this true like in form of Xperia Tablet S. but unfortunately Sony has not been able to stand on its claim and this device could hardly stand out.
Features and Specifications
The weight of Sony Xperia Z Tab is 495g supporting Micro-SIM. The screen is 10.1-inch large of type LCD capacitive touch screen which is backlit also supporting 16M colors. The resolution of the screen is 1200x1920p and support multi-touch for about 10 fingers. The screen has also been protected by the shatter proof glass. The OS here is Android v4.1.2 Jelly Beans which can also be upgraded to v4.4.2 KitKat. The processor is 1.5GHz Quad-core and the RAM is 2GB. The internal built-in storage is 16GB which can be further expanded through microSD card up to 2/64GB. The rear camera in this tablet is 8.1MP having quite a lot of features like face detection, geo tagging, autofocus and HDR. The front camera is 2.2MP and used for the selfies and the video conferencing. The battery here is 6000mAh Li-Po non-removable while the connectivity features are microUSB, FM Radio, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth, A-GPS, Wi-Fi and GSM/LTE.
Design and Quality
It is no doubt beautiful tablet. The feel this device gives is similar to what can be observed by looking first time at iPhone 4, iPhone 2 and Nexus One as well as the HTC One. There are very devices that attract the attention of the users by merely through their looks and Xperia Tablet Z comes under this category. This is a very simple rectangular tablet having glossy glass towards the front which is scratch resistant. The back of the device is having polycarbonate matt finish. There are power and standby buttons towards the side only and nothing else on both left and right hand side. This is by now the thinner tablet in the market. The thickness of iPad 4 is 9.4mm while this one has 6.9mm so this is the slimmer tablet on Earth. This is dust and water resistant as well.
OS and Tech
This device has been equipped with Android v4.1.2 Jelly Beans which is not that latest OS but it can be upgrade to v4.4 KitKat. So the multitasking would be a fun here making it quite fast enough with the support of the processor and the RAM. The lags have not been observed in its performance.
Camera and Multimedia
The outdoor photography with this tablet is never a good idea since it has the glossy screen which reflects sunlight quite a lot and the viewing is quite tough in the outdoor light. But the performance of the camera is good enough and the quality of the images is also good. But the bad thing is that, the back camera doesn’t have any flashlight. But the good news is that camera software does majority of the task and brings out good quality images. The videos recorded by it are also of decent quality. The front camera also works well for the video chat and the selfies.
Battery and Memory
The 6000mAh battery is successful enough in making the claims of the company come true. This battery works really nice for longer time. If the screen brightness is reduced, the energy is consumed little. So this works fine for quite longer time. The RAM is good enough and the internal storage is also impressive with further expansion also available.

This is for sure a complete package having excellent screen and nice features. The best thing in Sony Xperia Z Tab is that it has a good and decent quality camera which works quite decently as normally the camera is the most ignored part in tablets. This is a nice, lightweight and decent looking tablet. This is no doubt a powerful and quite well balanced device which is for sure going to attract the attention of the users as compared to iPad. There are little discrepancies observed in this device which should be overcome by the company in order to make this device worth buying.
