Gionee Pioneer P3
Gionee Pioneer P3 Mobile Price in India
Gionee is making its stand strong in Smartphone market by launching different price range handsets. This one is the cheapest smartphone from Gionee by now and offers good hardware. It has to be seen if this handset is capable enough to keep the good reputation set by the Gionee Pioneer P2.
Features and Specifications
The screen is large here than Gionee P2 and is 4.3-inch. The processor is 1.3GHz quad-core while the OS is Android v4.2 Jelly Beans. The RAM is here again limited to 512MB while the built-in storage is 4GB which can be further extended up to 32GB with the help of microSD card. The back camera is of 5MP with LED flash while the front CGA camera is used for video calls and fallacies. The connectivity options include 2G/3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The battery life here is same as P2 i.e. 1700mAh Li-ion.
Design and Quality
This device is quite heavy and chunky. The design of the phone is not new. The phone build material is good quality plastic and rubber finish at the back. This strong hardware makes it sturdy and strong. Though the screen is larger than P2 but the viewing angles are very poor and the screen overall is a failure. The screen even doesn’t have the scratch resistant glass to protect it from scratches and breaks. The viewing angles get even worst under direct sunlight. The power button and the volume rocker are located at the right side and the 3.5mm audio jack is placed at the top of the phone while the microUSB port is situated towards the bottom. This is a dual SIM device as well. At the bottom of the screen are the three navigation touchscreen keys along with the lower mic while the top of screen has the VGA front facing camera along with sensors. The battery is removable which means it can be replaced if torn out.
OS and Tech
The OS is little outdated i.e. it supports Android v4.2 Jelly Beans. The old OS even gives smooth performance with the support of the powerful processor. The OS allows the installation of apps on secondary storage which is microSD card as the internal storage is very limited. The OS provides fair multitasking and provides clean switches from app to app.
Camera and Multimedia
The back camera is of 5MP with LED light providing some good quality photos and videos. While the output of front camera is below average. The quality of still images is better than the videos. The night time shots though are little grainy but the day light shots are of nice quality. The video recording is a fun here but it does bring out some jerks while moving camera for recording videos. The front camera works on chance actually and for most of the time it doesn’t give good quality videos. Thus the camera department in Gionee remained mediocre always which is a point to be considered by the company on priority basis.
Battery and Memory
The battery of Gionee Pioneer P3 is quite heavy i.e. 1700mAh which can stand for whole day and under moderate use, this can last for a day and half. The device also has the brightening control feature for the screen which also helps in consumption of battery life. The RAM is limited to 512MB which may at times proves little lags in performance while the internal storage is 4GB out of which a large part is used for the system itself and very limited is available for the user. So an external storage with microSD card support is provided to elevate the memory up to 32GB. The apps can be easily installed on secondary storage and can be then smoothly run from there.
Pros and Cons
· Good build quality
· Good design
· Affordable price
· Powerful processor
· Large battery life
· Poor screen resolution
· Old OS
· Mediocre camera
The performance of the phone cannot be even compared to its own predecessor Gionee Pioneer P2. This device has many dominant flaws which can be very easily observed by even a normal user. Many hardcore games are not supported by it. The price is though affordable but it is quite a heavy set as compared to its Pioneer P2. The good point is that it comes with a magnetic sensor which can hardly be found in any set under this price range. The people who should buy it are those who are too much budget sensitive while for people who want exclusiveness in performance, software and hardware, this set is then not recommended for them. This phone asks for many sacrifices which may be hard for a perfectionist to give all the time so it is better to invest in some other brand having better software and hardware specifications.
