Asus Fonepad ME371MG-1B058A Tablet Price in India
The Samsung’s Note actually kicked off the strong wave of large screen smartphone which are also known as phablet. Asus is another company which is in queue to excel in this domain. The new tablet from Asus is having 7-inch large screen and is given the name Fonepad ME371MG-1B058A which can also be used for phone calling. So that time is over which was concentrating on reducing the size of the smartphone every year as now almost every company either big or small is thinking really big. The size of the smartphones is now increasing. The first pioneer of large screen smartphone was Samsung Galaxy Note which was having about 5-inch screen. But this Fonepad is tablet which is having calling facility.
Features and Specifications
The size of the screen is 7-inch having resolution of 1280x800p and is of type IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The internal storage is 8GB which can be further expanded up to 32GB using microSD card. RAM here is 1GB. The back camera of the device is 3MP and the front facing camera is 1.2MP. The connectivity features are 2G/3G, Bluetooth, microUSB, GPS, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Edge. The OS here is Android v4.1 Jelly Beans while the processor is 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420. The battery is 4270mAh Li-ion and it comes with 1 year warranty.
Design and Quality
Apparently there is not observed any special feature in this device. The device looks like a plain large 7-inch tablet. There is a plastic pane which protects the screen but this would not match the Corning Gorilla Glass. The back of the device is made up of plastic which gives the look of aluminum and give an impression of high quality. The build of the device is decent. The microSD card slot and the microSIM slots are under covers. The case of the tablet is quite rigid. The weight of the device is 340g so this is not a light device. On the other hand, the iPad Mini is about 10% lighter to this one. The 3.5mm headset jack and the charging port are at the bottom if the device is being held in portrait position. The volume rocker and the power button are at the left hand side.
OS and Tech
The Android v4.1.1 Jelly Beans has been deployed in this device and it is little astonishing that the company is relying on such an older version of Jelly Beans and is not even replaced with v4.2. There is a need to upgrade the OS in this decent device. This device cannot compete with the Google Nexus 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
Camera and Multimedia
The back facing camera is 3MP and the front facing is 1.2MP. The camera department is not bad in this device. The images produced by the back camera are of decent quality but since it is not being supported by flashlight so the night time photography is little hazy and noise have been observed in the images. The videos recorded by it are also of decent quality. The front camera is used nicely for the video calling and selfies. Overall the cameras in this device are not bad but needs little improvement.
Battery and Memory
The 4270mAh battery is not capable to provide the long time working of the device. This is due to the fact that this tablet consumes a lot of power particularly when the device is in idle mode. The RAM is nice though little more was expected of Asus but this is ok and the internal storage is also decent along with decent further expansion.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Decent design
· Good build quality
· Large screen
· Good camera
· Powerful processor
For Cons:
· Average battery life
· Old OS
· Lack of flashlight with back camera
· Little expensive
Verdict
A good tablet for calling purpose is here now in shape of this tablet. It has perfect speech and sound quality. The casing of the device is also decent. The awkward is the location of the buttons so the configuration of the device is quite well managed. But few drawbacks are also observed like the screen quality is not good and the battery life is not as per expectations. The performance of the device though is decent and users, who like to browse the internet, play games and make calls would definitely like this device.
