Features and Specifications

Asus did not let us down with their SIM support, as you can put dual SIM cards into this phone (GSM + GSM). The screen is a capacitive touchscreen with a size of 4.5 inches, and a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. This is a decent screen; it’s too bad that the resolution is not HD, but it is good enough. Featuring Android 4.4 KitKat, you will get some of the latest Android functionality in addition to great software features such as the app store. The battery has a capacity of 2100mAh, which is a fantastic size for a smartphone battery, and will provide a healthy battery lifespan. The internal memory is 8GB, but guess what? There is no SD card support! This would be understandable if the internal memory was 16GB of so, but 8GB is not going to be good for someone with a considerable multimedia collection, and a lot of apps. There is 1GB of RAM, which is a decent number that anyone can get behind. The primary camera is a very high 5MP, but the secondary camera is only VGA. Connectivity features include 2G, 3G, WIFI, USB Connectivity, GPS, and Bluetooth.

Design and Quality

The design is very nice. There is somewhat of an iPhone-like profile, which makes the phone look very sleek. The bottom bar of this phone has a very unique shiny metal look, which increases not only the design appeal, but also the quality. There are 3 off-screen touch responsive buttons at the bottom.

OS and Tech

Android 4.4 KitKat is the OS this phone comes packaged with. It offers a good amount of speed, software functionality, etc. The processor is not your typical Cortex-A7. Rather, it is a 1.2 GHz dual core Intel Atom Z2520. This processor has hyper-threading technology, which will further boost the power of your phone. Overall, it’s a fantastic processor which will deliver a great computing experience.

Camera and Multimedia

The primary camera is 5MP, while the secondary camera is VGA. It would have been nice to see at least a 1MP secondary camera, but VGA is all we get in this one. You will be able to do some SD video recording, and digital zooming. The primary camera is fantastic, but overall, the camera setup could have been a bit better. Multimedia is good, with a music player, video player, and FM radio. Of course, this functionality is limited by the mere 8GB of internal storage.

Battery and Memory

With a 2100 mAh battery, this phone will last a good amount of time. Unfortunately, there have not been any battery benchmarks done, so we don’t know the exact number of hours it will last, but it’s probably a good amount. The memory setup isn’t great. 8GB of internal storage is OK, but it would have been good to see SD card expansion.

Verdict

Overall, this phone has some very well balanced specs. If you can get past the 8GB of storage you are restricted to, the substandard screen, and the VGA secondary camera, this phone is a good pick.
