Features and Specifications

This device has not been given any cellular connectivity so this cannot be used as phone. The weight of this tablet is 310g and no SIM a lot provided in it. Screen is 7.0inch of type TFT Capacitive Touchscreen along with the offer of16M colors. The resolution being provided by the display is 600x1024p along with supporting multi-touch. OS here is Android v4.2 Jelly Beans while processor is 1.2 GHz dual core. RAM here is 1GB while the internal built in storage is of 8GB which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card. It has only one rear camera of 2MP with geo tagging feature and is capable of recording videos also. There is no secondary camera in it. The battery here is 3600mAh Li-ion and is available in different colors like yellow, pink, green, black and white. The connectivity options are Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and microUSB.

Design and Quality

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is little taller and wider and taller than the previous version though it is not the most imaginative device. It has been left out by the Samsung to have its own usual unexciting design. There is no sensor as well as earpiece on the screen. The back of the device lacks the usual soft and leather feel but carries a nice texture. Back panel is flat but the edges are curved and thus provides nice grip making it a comfortable device to hold. This can be easily handled with one hand due to its size and weight. This is an entry level device so the design compromise can be accepted. The physical home button is located under the screen in the middle of capacitive home and back key. The power button and the volume rocker are placed towards the right hand side and give a good press feedback. Towards the left hand side is the microSD card slot which is covered with a flip. Microphone lies towards the bottom of the device and at the top is the microUSB along with 3.5mm headset jack. The back carries the rear camera and a single loudspeaker grille.

OS and Tech

OS is quite old in it as Android v4.2 Jelly Beans is an outdated OS. Over the top of this OS, there is usual UI TouchWiz which is same as found in the previous version of this device. Due to old OS, there may be performance laps observed but this device is good for watching play back videos though internet surfing may suffer to some extent.

Camera and Multimedia

There is no front camera in this device so the rear camera is used only for recording videos and taking pictures. 2MP rear camera though is not of high quality but the camera has some very good resolution options which enable it to take good pictures with decent colors and details. But the fact is that the camera is just for the emergency purpose as it may not always produce good results. The same effect is observed with videos.

Battery and Memory

The 3600mAh battery is modest for this device since it doesn’t support voice calling and video calling facility so much of the time spent on this device would be internet surfing and the videos playback. In normal conditions, this battery can retain up to 8hrs and 20minutes which is a decent time. 1GB of RAM is enough for this device while the expandable 8GB memory is also enough since it can be stretched up to 32B easily.

Verdict

Samsung has not just revamp the old Galaxy 3 7.0 Lite but it possess some of the best features of its predecessors like bright screen. Though some of the hardware failure may disappoint users. Samsung always advocate the plastic casings and this has been found with the one. The performance difference among both the devices is quite less. We this device cannot be given purchase recommendations. There are good performing devices present in market like Nexus 7 and Asus Memo Pad 7.
