From past few months, Indian markets have seen plenty of tablets under affordable prices. Many manufacturers like Lava, Karbonn and Micromax have launched new tablets which are Android based having numerous features. Every company tries its bets to bring in with some value added functionality to its customers in order to persuade customer to purchase their products. Following the same line, Pantel Technologies have launched its new tablet which is another affordable tablet with the name BSNL Penta WS708C 2G calling facility. It has got very handsome features and may prove to be a tough competitor to many of the budget sensitive tablets.
Features and Specifications
It has been provided with Android v4.1.1 Jelly Beans OS with 1.0GHz processor. The screen is 7-inch having LCD capacitive touchscreen technology offering multi-touch capability. Primary back camera is 2inch while the secondary camera at the front is 0.3MP. Built-in storage here is 4GB which is expandable further up to 32GB using microSD card. 512MB RAM is provided to this device while the manufacturer also offers 1 year warranty. Battery in it is 3000mAh Li-polymer while the connectivity features included are MiniUSB, Bluetooth, 2G/3G, Wi-Fi, and HDMI. All the features are quite decent for the price this device is being offered at.
Design and Quality
The body of this tab is all plastic similar to what all budget tablets have. It has good build quality and gives sturdy feel. It looks decent and completely fits in hand nicely. It has bigger bezels and the weight is less which makes it easy for single hand use for longer durations. In landscape mode, it is hard to hold this tablet in one hand due to having slippery back. The front of this tablet is having 7-inch large screen with large bezel. Towards the top of the screen is the front camera as well as the earpiece. The back of the tab is made up of silver colored shiny plastic. The back carries a camera, some logos, speaker and some other details. It is a Dual SIM tablet offering regular sized SIM card slots and these can be found under back cover along with the microSD card slot. All the ports are placed on top of the tab while the power button and the volume rocker are located towards the left hand side. The display quality of the screen is average but doesn’t show any issue. The viewing angles of the screen are decent though not very good.
OS and Tech
It has been loaded with a stronger OS which is Android v4.1.1 Jelly Beans but since this is not the latest OS so some flaws are observed but don’t affect much. Thus this is good for giving snappier performance.
Camera and Multimedia
Two cameras have been included in this tab. But there is hardly any use for the back camera. The back camera produces average quality pictures but the smartphone camera is much better than this one. Front camera is necessary in every tab but it is again having low quality especially it gets worse under poor lighting conditions. This works nice for occasional selfies and video chats. The back camera can even record videos but they are equally of poor quality as that of the still pictures.
Battery and Memory
The 3000mAh battery is not much decent in this case as it doesn’t help to provide much of the backup. But under normal use, this can give up to 5hrs of the tab use. This must not be disappointing for a device which is much under budget. 512MB of RAM though is less and this may at time proves bottleneck. The internal storage is also less but the expansion is quite decent up to 32GB.

Verdict
The Bsnl Penta WS708C is supporting dual SIMs, and 2G calling tablet which is launched by the Penta in support with BSNL. There are some unique features of this tab which include the 3D gaming support as well as 3D glasses are available for free with it and the 2G calling support. It has faster processor in order to give full support to 3D gaming graphics but the limited RAM can be at times a hurdle to this fun. But at the price for which it is offered, this device is not at all a bad option. This device is better than Micromax Funbook Talk P362 as it offers dual SIM compatibility while Funbook has only single SIM support. This is overall a decent tab but little enhancements to it are required if given proper care by the company.
