On December 14, Lenovo sent out a teaser on its Lenovo India Twitter page asking the world to prepare for what the company called “the new Killer Note”.

This was seen by many as a teaser for Lenovo’s much awaited K4 Note, the successor to the company’s widely successful K3 Note. Earlier today the company confirmed that this is indeed the K4 Note.

The company ran a contest asking consumers how much RAM they would want to see on the device and as it turns out more than 99% of people voted for a 3 GB RAM. Well, when your options are between 1 GB and 3 GB, you would have to be a technological dork of sorts to choose anything less than 3 GB, as it seems was the case with less than 1% of all people who participated in this contest.

Now that we know how much RAM the Lenovo K4 Note will sport let’s take a quick look at other rumored specs on this phone.

Specifications – Lenovo K4 Note

So far the company has been teasing the media and the public with specs on this phone. Other than the confirmed 3 GB RAM the Lenovo K4 Note will almost certainly have a 32 GB internal storage, a MediaTek’s Helio X10 chipset, and a fingerprint scanner. While other detailed specs are not available just yet one can certainly expect more teasers from Lenovo.

Perhaps the most interesting teaser about the phone has been its rumored metal build. The K4 Note, which will in all likelihood be a phablet, could sport an all-metal body, which will be a significant improvement over its predecessor – the Lenovo K3 Note.

When should we expect the Lenovo K4 Note to hit the market?

Going by the number of teasers Lenovo has been dishing out one can safely assume that the Lenovo K4 Note is close to launch. We are expecting he Lenovo K4 Note to hit the market in early 2016. In fact we are expecting it as early as January 2016. There is also a remote possibility that the Lenovo K4 Note could be announced at CES 2016. While these rumors have some weight given that Lenovo always has a good and growing presence at CES with each passing year, we are not sure if that would be the best of ideas.

Launching a mid-range phablet at CES 2016 might get the device some eyeballs at the actual event but the device would be competing with a plethora of amazing new offerings from a ton of other brands. Lenovo would not want its latest phablet to get lost in the news, if there is such a thing. Launching a flagship device at CES is always a big money shot but the K4 Note will not be Lenovo’s flaghip device, so we are expecting a separate and early January launch of the Lenovo K4 Note.

The K4 Note could provide a much needed boost Lenovo’s phablet segment

Lenovo has a few phones which would qualify as a phablet but the fact remains that with the exception of the K3 Note, none of them have a lot of love from the consumer. So it makes sense that Lenovo’s next phablet is a successor to the K3 Note. Lenovo has been doing well in all other segments and has perhaps the most diverse and complete consumer electronics division of any company, but in the phablet segment it needs to keep the momentum gained by the Lenovo K3 Note.

NDTV Gadgets 360 reports that Lenovo claims to have sold 1.2 million units of the Lenovo K3 Note in India. Considering the fact that the phablet was only launched in June 2015 that is some achievement. It would indeed be interesting to watch whether the K4 Note achieves the same kind of success as the K3 Note. The road has been paved and it has all the ingredients for success, all that remains is consumer acceptance and Lenovo is doing well to garner as much consumer attention as possible with its timely, albeit sometimes inane, teasers.
