HTC Desire 630 with 5 inch Display and 2 GB RAM Launched

HTC has been struggling of late. The company has seen a consistent decline in sales over the last few quarters. It seems that the company is finally focused on rolling out new products. Over the last month or so HTC has unveiled a number of new smartphones that we have been expecting from HTC for quite some time now.

One of these smartphones is the new HTC Desire 630. Let’s take a closer look at the specifications on this phone.

Specifications – HTC Desire 630

The HTC Desire 630 comes with a 5 inch super LCD display that has a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. This translates to a pixel density of 294 ppi. The phone boasts of a 1.6 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor alongside an Adreno 305 GPU. The 2GB RAM on the phone is also a good addition.

The internal storage on this phone is 16 GB, which can be expanded up to 200 GB using a Micro SD card slot. The primary camera on the Desire 630 is 13 megapixels and it supports LED flash and autofocus. The secondary camera is a 5 megapixel unit which will surely not disappoint selfie fans.

This is of course a dual sim phone with a capacitive touchscreen that supports 4G connectivity. This phone was announced by HTC many months ago before being finally unveiled last month, which goes to show that HTC have had 4G connectivity on their minds for quite some time now. Unlike what some in the blogging community are reporting, this is not a new development.

The HTC Desire 630 weighs 140 grams, which is pretty lightweight compared to some other smartphones with similar features. I get the feeling that the battery capacity of this phone may have something to do with that. The battery capacity on the HTC Desire 630 is 2200 mAh. HTC might have missed a trick here. Considering the pricing of this product a lot of consumers will not be very thrilled about the battery capacity on this phone.

The HTC Desire 630 is powered by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, which means that despite some hardware specifications that seem a bit outdated the phone at least boasts of the latest system software.

Is the HTC Desire 630 priced too high?

The Desire 630 was first unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2016 alongside the HTC Desire 530 and the HTC Desire 825. The company has priced the Desire 630 at Rs. 14,990. To be honest it does seem like HTC is a bit out of touch with the pricing of its smartphones. By no means are we saying that HTC should not price its product the way it sees fit, however, for their own sake HTC should realize by now that with the influx of several Chinese brands in India the pricing game has new rules.

Competitive pricing of smartphones over the last year or so has meant that the consumer has a lot of options too choose from in every price segment. So HTC might make a good smartphone but to expect it to sell better than phones from other brands, which are offering way better specifications than HTC for a fraction of the cost of HTC phones, will foolhardy. So to us it does seem that the Desire 630 is probably overpriced, not for what it’s offering, but for what others are offering.
