DataWind operates in a segment all its own

DataWind’s entire business is built around offering cheaper solutions maximized to their fullest ability so that consumers who cannot afford to buy an expensive mobile device can make use of a DataWind product. There is no arguing the fact that some other brands offer devices which 3 to 4 times more powerful than a Tablet such as the DataWind UbiSlate 7SC and their prices are probably only twice that of this product.

However, what most of DataWind’s competitors don’t get is that the target audience for DataWind products isn’t the consumer who considers a Rs. 6,000 mobile device within grasp instead it is the consumer who is delighted to find a mobile device connected to the internet, albeit at a slower rate of connectivity, for Rs. 3,000.

When it comes to the low-end Tablets and smartphones segment the most basic requirement is that of a device which works, not a device which offers beautiful design semantics and amazing camera quality. The average DataWind consumers could care less about the design of the device, for them it is imperative that the device offers them the ability to stay connected and empowers them to learn and grow.
