Lava Iris 401 Mobile Price in India

The Lava Iris 401

The Lava Iris is a budget smartphone which actually has some very nice strong points. Usually, the budget smartphone market is filled with phones which don’t even try to be good at anything. While the Lava Iris somewhat follows this trend in certain specs, it at least tries to deliver a good experience in multiple categories. However, this doesn’t come with repercussions in other areas; read on to learn more.

Features and Specifications

Much like many smartphones, the Lava Iris 401 supports dual SIM (GSM + GSM). The screen uses TF technology, and is a capacitive touch screen. It has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, with a size of 4 inches, and can display 16 million colors. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is the OS on this device, which is a little bit outdated at this point in time, and will not deliver the same performance of an updated OS such as KitKat 4.4. The processor is a little bit underpowered in relation to other budget smartphones, with a 1.3GHz dual core. The internal memory is pretty bad, with a miniscule 256MB. The battery has a capacity of 1500mAh, which can power the phone for up to 9 hours on a 2G network. The camera is where this phone comes up strong; even though it is a satisfactory 3MP, it can record HD video at 1280 x 720 pixels. The connectivity is OK, with 2G, Wi-Fi, USB connectivity, and Bluetooth support. Additional features include a G-sensor and data backup.

Design and Quality

With both black and blue colors available, there is some customization potential on this phone. The design is good, with the corners being slightly rounded, and a stylish bar at the top and bottom. The rest is quite standard, with three off-screen touch responsive buttons at the bottom for navigational purposes. Overall, the phone looks quite stylish, but is definitely not a head turner. There have been complaints about the quality of the electronics in this phone, however.

OS and Tech

The OS is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which is a little bit outdated. Because of this, you will not be able to experience the speed and cleanliness of the newer KitKat or Android L experience. The processor is a 1.3 GHz dual core, which is a little bit below the bar when it comes to budget smartphones. Most of them have quad core processors at around 1.4GHz, but it really shouldn’t be an issue if you are a casual user.

Camera and Multimedia

A surprising aspect of this phone is the camera. It can actually record video and take pictures in HD, at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The secondary camera is only VGA, but that’s OK, as you will not typically require a good secondary camera. There is a single LED flash, 4x digital zoom, smile detection, burst mode, and fixed focus. All of these additional features are fantastic for a budget phone’s camera. The multimedia experience is good, with a music player, video player, and FM radio.

Battery and Memory

With a 1500mAh battery, you might not think it can run the phone for long. On the contrary, since the screen is quite low quality, and the only network supported is 2G, you can talk on this phone for a good 9 hours. The memory is very poor, with only 256 MB of internal storage. On the bright side, you can expand this via microSD card by up to 32GB. The lack of internal memory shouldn’t be that much of an issue if you don’t want to use this phone for multimedia. However, if you do, you will probably opt for SD card expansion anyway.

Pros and Cons

For Pros:

·        Amazing price

·        Great camera for such a low price

·        Decent connectivity

·        Dual SIM support

·        Micro SD support

For Cons:

·        Pretty poor internal storage

·        Only supports 2G

·        Screen isn’t great

·        A little bit underpowered in relation to other budget smartphones

Verdict

This phone would be great if you are a casual user who loves to take photos. With the camera really being the strong point on this budget phone, it’s somewhat geared for taking pictures. Otherwise, there are probably better choices on the market.
