Micromax Bolt A35 Review

Indian smartphone dealers and manufacturers were not that much happening in the then International Android markets until Companies like Micromax, gave a head start for being in the frontline. Starting from low-end monochrome phones in today’s high-end fascinating smartphone Micromax is still heading towards the smartphone war, which has reached even in the international markets. Micromax Bolt A35 is among those phones that actually stood in the foreground of smartphone evolution.

Features & Specifications

The smartphone was launched on and released on February 2013. Having a starting range of key specifications such as 1 GHz processor and android version of 2.3 GINGERBREAD. External memory support is up to 16 GB via MicroSD card. The processor is a let-down here, but there is too much to expect at the price range for which Micromax Bolt A35 is being sold.

The processor comes coupled with 256 MB ram and a Mali-400 MP graphic card.

The Camera features of the phone are poor, only offering 2 MP main camera and 0.30 MP front camera. Both the camera can be taken as non-existent as they do not provide any benefit other than the presence.

The battery of the smartphone is good and has a capacity of 1500 mAh, Li-on.

The display of the phone is quite rich and sharp. Supporting a screen size of 4.0 inches and a resolution of 400*800 pixels, the device is pretty mind blowing. The Pixel density of the display is quite huge compared to the 4 inch screen which is approx 233 pixels per inch.

Multi-touch on the TFT screen is also supported.

Design and Quality

Micromax Bolt A35 with its small 4 inch screen gives a good grip for the hands. The rear matt finish back cover is also very much impressive. The device has dimensions of 124*64*11.6 mm and weighing only 89 gram makes the users easy to use roughly.

Dual sim support is available on this phone with only GSM and GPRS support.

Rear placed speakers are pretty loud gives the users a delightful music experience. Almost all audio types such as MP3, WAV etc. are all supported in this phone. 3.5 mm audio jack panel is present on the top of the device.

The phone comes only with factory manufactured black color exterior.

OS and Tech

The device runs on an outdated version of Android version 2.3 which is named as Gingerbread. The CPU is clocked at 1 GHz only, which is well balanced as compared to its other specifications. Features like Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth 2.0, Fm Radio and USB functions come pre-equipped with this phone.

The device supports advanced features like thread-view SMS, MMS, and Email and push Email services along with Instant Messaging are also available. HTML browser runs quite good in this phone. Good thing that the phone has JAVA supports via JAVA MIDP emulator.

Camera and Multimedia

Camera support of this phone is limited up to 2MP only, with 1600*1200 pixels. Though having lower megapixels the camera shoots decent pictures under bright light, but the quality decreases under low light conditions.

Presence of the secondary camera on the top front of this device is not detected.

The device is built to support almost all kinds of video formats at ease.
MP4, H.264, WMV player, document and photo viewer comes as inbuilt apps from the manufacturers.

Battery and Memory

According to this phone's specifications the preinstalled battery is quite effective which is of Li-Ion 2000 mAh. The battery gives enough juice to power the device even up to two days of moderate usage.

Stand-by of this device is up to 175 hours and talk time lasts up to 4hours and 30 minutes.

The Internal memory of this phone is quite low which compels the users to add external memory via MicroSD card slots. The device supports up to 16 GB of external memory.

Pros

  • Intuitive design and light weight.
  • Sharp and Rich display.
  • Great battery backup.

Cons

  • The system runs on outdated Android version.
  • Boring UI that is made of stock android.
  • The System sometimes gives lags and often slows down.

Verdict

Micromax being an Indian company delivers us rich and powerful phone materials at the cheapest possible price. Micromax Bolt A35 is also among the low-end phones which costs much below 4k and gives premium user experience. If any user has a low budget yet wants to own an Android Phone then this device is the best possible choice.
