Toshiba WT8-B
Score
Toshiba WT8-B Tablet Price in India
The Toshiba WT8B offers a nice experience as a tablet with a huge display of media-related features and pre-installed apps like Office 365 Personal. However, the lack of SIM card or 3G or for that matter, sustainable internet, or connectivity may not endear it much amongst buyers searching for an all-rounder tablet.
Features and Specifications
The device runs with the help of a 1.33 GHz quad Core Atom processor along with an awesome 1 GB RAM with built in multimedia and entertainment features, but has the disappointment in not being able to support either SIM or 3G. The tablet comes armed with 3 sensors-the proximity and primary sensors and the ambient light sensor which makes the backlight turn off after long periods of stand-by. The only way to connect to the net is with the 802.11 WiFi. A Dongle with Y cable can be additionally purchased to enable a 3G connection. Charging is accomplished by connecting the tablet via microUSB cable. There is no FM radio, HDMI port, Bluetooth or GPS connectivity here. This puts the tablet at quite a disadvantage for attracting potential consumers. However, it does contain a 3.5mm audio jack for enjoying music via headphones.
Design and Quality
The 8”tablet is quite slender and stylishly crafted in design, with a Satin Gold body weighing about 380 gm and a WXGA with LED-type capacitive multi-touch touchscreen having dimensions of 210.62x132.00x9.48mm with a perfect resolution of 1280x800 pixels. There are two cameras, both of which are quite impressive in their picture quality and resolution. The device has a microUSB port that can be used for charging purposes. The Toshiba Display Utility makes reading even small print easy and is quite a genius touch. This comes equipped with a pinch to zoom ability.
OS and Tech
The processor is an extremely smooth and efficient Quad Core one with 1.33GHz frequency and of Intel Atom Z3735G type, allowing effortless playing of several multimedia apps at once with easy transition from one app to another with almost no lag time in between. The Li-ion rechargeable battery provides incredibly high levels of talk time as well as standby power. The 32GB internal storage provides more than enough space for storing images, digitized books and business documents, music, videos and lots more.
Camera and Multimedia
The device has two cameras already built-in into the hardware. The front camera is 5MP having 1080 pixel quality FHD video recording. The front-facing 1.2MP camera gives fairly good quality of selfies. The business oriented app Office 365 Personal incorporates Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook and OneNote to enhance one’s creativity with read, write or edit options. The pre-installed stereophonic speakers add an extra punch to movies or songs by drowning out unnecessary noises coming from elsewhere. The top notch Music and Audio players assisted by the Intel Atom processor and premium graphics card allow smooth, flawlessly fluid transitions from app to app.
Battery and Memory
The Li-ion rechargeable battery runs on 3788mAh of power has an unrealistically elevated battery life and standby time, and is without any threat of premature expiration from use of multimedia or WiFi. It allows talk time for an uninterrupted 11 hrs. The internal memories of 32GB lets one download music, movies, and wallpapers and receive eBooks, images and documents via USB cable. A further 128GB memory can be added by inserting a microSD card into its specified slot on the device’s body.

Verdict
With the launch of the WT8-B, Toshiba is perhaps trying to advertise that it carries only media-centric features or applications, but the hard fact remains that it lacks both a SIM card and a 3G connection which is a gross detriment to its publicity amongst prospective buyers who are continually on the lookout for an all-in-one package like the Dell Venue 7 or the iberry Auxus Core X8, both of which offer superb 3G connection in addition to assorted multimedia features. The best thing would be to watch out for the kind of attention this tablet garners among the public before venturing out to buy it.
