Features and Specifications

Lenovo S5000 Tablet runs on MediaTek MT8125 1.2GHz processor. It has 1GB RAM and 16GB internal memory which cannot be extendible as it doesn’t provide a microSD card slot. It has Android v4.2.2 OS which is quite an old OS now. It comes with two cameras, a 5MP underside camera without LED flash and 1.6MP front camera. It has a bigger screen of 7-inch with higher pixel resolution of 1280x800p. The battery life is quite impressive up to 3450mAh Lithium-polymer which is non removable as the back of the tablet cannot be removed. The company also provides along with the tablet a power cord and since tablet cannot be used for making calls so no headset is provided and a stand for the tablet. It’s available in 3G+Wi-Fi support or only with Wi-Fi support.

Design and Quality

The chassis of the tablet is made up entirely of plastic. The back side of the tablet may set apart from rest of the tablet color wise and it gives polycarbonate texture. This polycarbonate texture gives many advantages like easy grip and doesn’t bring too many fingerprints. The build quality of the tablet is good though the build material may not be of a quality as it is in Samsung Galaxy Model. The tablet also uses slight plastic on sides which may notice slight deforms with even little pressure. The slim and smart build makes this tablet attractive.

OS and Tech

The Lenovo S5000 has Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS in it which is quite an outdated OS now for tablets like Lenovo S5000. This OS has been adapted by Lenovo to deactivate the app drawer but this also brings some confusion and messy stuff on home screen showing all the apps at once. There are many unnecessary apps on-board here. Due to lower 1GB RAM, the performance of the tablet may sometimes be taken for granted.

Camera and Multimedia

The tablet comes with two cameras. One of the cameras is located on the underside and it is of 5MP and the other camera is towards front on top which is of 1.6MP. The performance of the camera is not very impressive. The camera software is too frugal and it doesn’t bring any improvement in picture quality with even multiple resets. Under low light, the performance of both of the cameras get worst as there is no LED flash available with them. Pictures even day light are quite blurry and doesn’t give complete details of the scene.

Battery and Memory

The battery capacity in Lenovo S5000 is 3450mAh which is built on lithium-polymer technology. If all wireless connectivity features are deactivated and the brightness is set to minimum, the tablet then can last for considerable amount of time like for more than 17hrs. But this feature has already been beaten by few tablets already present in market like Nexus 7 2013 and Kindle Fire HDX 7 as they come with much larger battery life even under heavy use. The moderate battery life is even good for the moderate use of the tablet. It has 1GB RAM and the internal storage is 16GB which cannot be extended as no microSD card slot support has been provided in it. Here again the Lenovo S5000 is felt little down in comparison to its competitors.

Verdict

Lenovo S5000 is one of the mid-range tablets out in the market among so many others. The price set for it is quite reasonable for the mediocre services and features it provides. The problem with it is its camera performance along with the old OS version and the little slow processor technology. Lenovo has to decide on little upgrades in these areas on quick basis in order to make this tablet worth noticing by masses.
