Karbonn Smart Tab 2 Tablet Price in India
This tablet is actually the updated version of the previous Karbonn tab like there is an updated version of Android OS in this latest release. This is the latest version of the Karbonn Smart Tab 1 and is available in now in Indian markets. This is another budget tablet which has been priced aggressively. This tablet is a touch competitor for Micromax New Alpha Tablet which is little ahead in OS than this tablet. Rest of the features of this tab is quite nice and will soon attract the attention of Indian customers.
Features and Specifications
This device is having 7-inch screen having Capacitive touchscreen technology providing 480x900p resolution. The screen also offers multi-touch capability and the protection to the screen is provided by the Corning Gorilla Glass. The OS here is Android v4.1 Jelly Beans with a processor of 1.2GHz. The RAM is 512MB while the internal storage is 4GB but this can be expanded up to 32GB using the microSD card. The main camera at the back is 2MP which also record videos while there is no secondary camera at the front. Battery here is 3700mAh Li-ion which is non-removable while connectivity it offers includes microUSB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There is no cellular connectivity in this tab. It comes in white/black color.
Design and Quality
This tablet is white from the back while the front is all black having glass covering the whole front from edge to edge. All the ports including 3.5mm headset jack, mini USB, HDMI, charging socket and the microSD card are available at the right hand side of the device. Towards the left hand side are different buttons like power, home, options as well as the enter button. The back of the device is flat and the edges are smoothly curved. Button and ports are nicely placed but there is no volume button/rocker. There is only screen volume button which requires a user to look at the tab while changing the volume. The look and feel of the tablet is quite nice. The display of the tablet is nice but the resolution is less and similar to what other tablets are offering. The screen is good at touch sensitivity.
OS and Tech
This tablet has got an upgraded version of the Android OS which is v4.1 Jelly Beans in this case. Since other features of the tablet are not very strong so this OS works perfectly fine with the device and produces enough amount of multitasking.
Camera and Multimedia
Camera here is below average. The back camera is 2MP without support of LED light which means the night time photography is almost impossible by this tablet. The quality of the images generated by it is also not good while the videos recorded by it are also not very inspiring. There should have been an upgrade in the camera department as well. Comparing with other tablets, Swipe Ultimate has better camera than this one.
Battery and Memory
The 3700mAh battery serves its purpose and provides about 7hrs of web surfing and gaming time for this tablet. This much time is not bad comparing it with other tablets. The more the battery will be large, the more time it would take to get completely recharged. The RAM is too limited here. 512MB might not work well for a tab while the internal storage is 4GB which is very less and this may offend users but the expansion to the memory is quite handsome but this would require users to buy a microSD card in order to expand the memory.
Pros and Cons
For Pros:
· Decent build quality
· Decent battery life
· Upgraded OS
· Decent price for decent performance
· Expandable memory
For Cons:
· Limited RAM and internal storage
· Below average camera
· Average processor
· Lack of volume rocker/button
Verdict
This tablet is a decent offer at a very decent price and it better justifies its price with its performance. There are though some discrepancies also in it like below average camera, due to old OS, there is some lagging in the performance. There is no physical volume button/rocker which may be problematic as well for some of the users. Comparing to Micromax Funbook Alpha, the Karbonn Smart Tab 2 is little expensive but it includes some better features than Funbook. The processor here is better than Funbook while camera being below average is better than Funbook as the Funbook has 0.3MP rear camera which makes the photography experience more badly. It is hoped that there would be some more upgrade in the new release of this tab so that the issues highlighted in this version get settled. This is not a bad device and even is much better than some tablets already present in the market.
