Lava E Tab Z7C+ Tablet Price in India
Lava, the Indo-Chinese Mobile telecommunication company, released the E-Tab Z7C Connect in July of 2013. A slightly improved successor of the Lava E-Tab Z7C, it is not expected to create too much of a stir in the smart phone market. Joining the rank of tablets that offer voice calling services, it hosts several useful applications for both children and adults, but is unoriginal in terms of make and model. The E-Tab consists of a number of pre-loaded apps, but the old-fashioned OS is a real turn-off to consumers.
Features and Specifications
First of all, it is powered by Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which is obsolete today. There’s only one SIM card, and the processor is 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7227A with 512 MB of RAM, not enough to cover all of the tablet activity when more than one app is running. There are a vast number of built-in apps, a few of which are Saavn Music, Facebook, Twitter, Uwin as well as Gtalk. It has the added advantage of being loaded with kid-friendly apps like Hungama and EduKart that are both instructional and entertaining. Aspiring students can avail of the Meritnation.com app that provides them with study material, animated videos as well as solved question papers and revision tips. This feature vastly enhances its appeal to school-goers and also board and entrance exam candidates.
Design and Quality
The E-Tab is moderately stylish but quite bulky, weighing at 350 gm. The rims and back cover are in Classic Silver color, and the tablet has dimensions of 194x123.3x9.8mm with a 7 inch TFT LCD screen in 1080p. The screen is of capacitive multi touch type and equipped with a G-sensor to measure the amount of tilt. The SIM card and USB card fit neatly into their respective slots on the side of the phone. The downside is that the tablet is available in only one color. The E-Tab incorporates two cameras into its design, a 2 MP one at the back and a .3 MP VGA camera at the front. The front camera is ostensibly for Skyping, but its poor quality discourages use.
OS and Tech
The technology seriously lacks innovation. Powered by a modest 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the tablet offers 3G connectivity with Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth 3 and GPS for navigation. There’s provision for SMS, Instant Messaging and email, in addition to voice calling. However, the outdated Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich won’t gain it many fans nowadays. Also, the tab’s insufficient RAM slows down all the applications and produces heavy constraint on its short term memory, which may be frustrating to some customers. The E-Tab comes with a 2.0 USB cables for transferring music and videos to and from other devices into the tablet.
Camera and Multimedia
The E-Tab consists of a 2 MP front camera, embedded into the back cover, and a VGA front camera that’s used for video chatting on Skype. There may be some grumbling about the poor quality of the front camera. Already downloaded into the E-Tab is the Saavn Music app that allows one to get free access to every genre of song in the entertainment industry. There’s a 2.0 USB cable along with a 3.5mm audio jack for sharing songs, movie clips and pictures with other devices.
Battery and Storage
The rechargeable Li-ion battery is powered at 3000 mAH and provides high battery life, which may redeem this product somewhat of its insipid technical quality. The device comes with 4 GB of internal storage that is ratcheted up to 32 GB via micro-SD card, and is a great way to keep all of one’s music and video files under one compact roof.
Pros:
· 3G connectivity with GPRS and Wi-Fi
· Voice and video calling
· Built-in apps that are entertaining and educational
· 4 GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32 GB with micro-SD card.
Cons:
· Backdated OS
· Poor quality of second camera
Verdict
The E-Tab doubles up as both a phone a tablet, in that it supports both voice calling and internet services. However, it offers nothing in the way of freshness or originality. It certainly appears in a very poor light when held in contrast with Lava’s brilliant Xolo Play Tegra which runs on a more advanced Android platform with HD graphics and great sound. Perhaps this accounts for its low budget. It is sure to be swept away under the tide of more technologically advanced devices in the future.
