2015 saw some great new technological advances being introduced to the world of consumer electronics and since we at iSpyPrice provide you with informed listings of a wide variety of consumer electronics products we decided to give you an insight into some of the best products from 2015.

Smartphone of the year

The smartphone industry continued to grow by leaps and bounds in 2015. This year some of the biggest names in the business made some terrible blunders while a yesteryear’s great made a slow but steady comeback to relevance. Local players gained more traction in the regional markets, outperforming some of the biggest names in the industry and a much revered tech company finally released a quality mobile OS.

South Korean giant Samsung redeemed itself with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones. BlackBerry decided to finally jump the gun and enter the Android ecosystem. But when choosing the best phone of 2015 we have to consider everything from the quality of the hardware to the quality of the software, from design to finish, from stability to performance.

While there were many great phones launched this year and we listed the top 5 smartphones of 2015 for you not so long ago, there is one phone that stood out from the rest of the pack. This was Google’s latest Nexus device, the Huawei Nexus 6P. Huawei is one of the few Chinese brands that is known for its precision in design and high quality hardware expertise so we weren’t surprised to see Google opt for Huawei as the hardware partner.

Tablet of the year

While the first half of 2015 wasn’t particularly exciting for the Tablet market, towards the end of 2015 we were introduced to some of the best Tablets ever made. There are three that stand out. Google has entered the work Tablet race by unveiling its Google Pixel C Tablet. Apple’s latest Tablet, the Apple iPad Pro was another contender for Tablet of the year and it certainly has a lot of takers in the market right now.

However, there was one device that simply destroyed all competition. And by that I mean not just the Tablet competition but this device can put some of the best laptops in the market to shame. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Tablet is an absolute gem and if it didn’t drill a hole in the pocket I would have published this piece from a Surface Pro 4.

Laptop of the year

The laptop segment has morphed into a shape-shifting gadget segment over the last couple of years. With Tablets beginning to compete with full fledged laptops the lines between what can be called a laptop are slowly but surely blurring. Much like an Audi convertible, there are laptop options out there that offer an experience which differs dramatically from the original laptop experience. But even during the age of shape-shifting laptops there were certain devices that stood out from the rest of the pack.

Dell’s XPS series always manages to produce one of the best laptops every year and that’s exactly what it achieved this year. It produced one of the best laptops going around – the Dell XPS 13 9350 is an absolute beast. However, if any brand can lay a claim to being a beast of a performer it is XPS’ sister brand – Alienware.

The Alienware series saw its best ever laptop the Alienware 17 outperforming pretty much every other laptop this year. The Retina Macbook Pro and Asus ZenBook models might have come close but the Alienware 17 stood its ground as the performer of the year.

Brand of the year

To be a consumer electronics brand of the year you have to be building everything under the Sun and doing it well. Lenovo certainly stepped up its game this year in a number of segments this year and Apple Inc. continued to dominate certain segments like no one else can, there is one brand that simply out-manufactured its competition.
