We at iSpyPrice have been predicting of late that multiple brands will jump on the Windows 10 bandwagon and in Windows 10 Microsoft may have finally found its first truly global and mass-market mobile OS. After the iconic computer company Hewlett Packard announced its intentions to enter the Windows 10 fold now its the turn of a relatively lesser known brand – Alcatel – to do the same.

Alcatel has unveiled its first Windows 10 powered device the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016. Let’s first take a quick look at the specifications on this device.

Specifications – Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL

The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL has a 5.5 inch HD display and comes with 1.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The phone has a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32 GB via a microSD card slot. The Fierce XL has an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a rather surprising 2 megapixel front facing camera. Surprising because few brands prefer a 2 megapixel selfie camera for one of its flagship products these days.

The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL comes with 4G LTE support and has a 2500 mAh battery to boot. The battery on this device will supposedly last up to 14 hours of talk time and 820 hours of standby time.

Is this Alcatel’s breakthrough product?

Alcatel has delivered some good products over the years but has failed to break into the big league of mobile brands. The big players in the business leave very little room for a smaller brand to flourish if the smaller brand isn’t innovating and adopting aggressive strategies to push forward in the market. The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is Alcatel’s effort to offer its consumers an all new experience with the Windows 10 OS.

This is eventually turn out to be Alcatel’s breakthrough product. The company is betting big on the Windows 10 ecosystem, which is hard to do when the ecosystem itself hasn’t completely evolved into an all-encompassing framework. Having said that Windows 10 certainly has all the makings of a good ecosystem partner for brands like Alcatel.

As Microsoft continues its efforts to blur the lines between handheld computing and desktop computing various OEMs and Microsoft ecosystem partners will look to adopt Windows 10 to herald their own mobile safari.

A brief look at other products from Alcatel

Unlike some other brands Alcatel usually focuses on budget phones and low-end phones. However, it has in its portfolio some interesting products such as the Alcatel OneTouch Hero 8020A mobile and the Alcatel OneTouch Pop C9 mobile. With the new Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL the company is charting new territories and this is without doubt the company’s most important smartphone till date.

The success or failure of the Fierce XL could pretty much decide whether or not Alcatel adopts the new Windows 10 strategy at a larger scale. It might want to stick to the Android + Windows 10 range of products before Windows 10 adoption surges, if at all that happens, in the near future.
